I’ve come to kind of think of Ostara as the New Year, as it is a time for new beginnings & life. So, I would like to add into my list of things to do for the holiday a Wheel of the Year tarot spread.

Book of Mirrors 10:49 pm

It was very had for me to focus on anything tonight, including focusing on nothing. One useful thing came to mind, though: while trying to picture myself in the woods, I kept getting the feel of having a walking staff in hand. So, I pictured myself with my staff, sword, & bag of *goodies* (journal, camera, bolline, etc). I then realized I should probably be focusing on confidence & employment, which wasn’t working quite well. I then kept seeing the previous image of myself enjoying the woods, followed by an image of myself smiling at work (what looked like Red Apple) and then looking at my paycheck as I was walking up to the bank. Which brought this thought to mind- everything I am should stem from that image of myself, happy, peaceful & in nature. From there, everything else should be interconnected like a spiderweb- employment and financial stability, family, friends, etc. I already have love set in place, thankfully; I don’t know what I’d do without that emoticon. But everything should be surrounded by a core of inner peace. I need to begin weaving this web properly…

Tarot 7:13 pm

A card a day/night

Drawing a Tarot card daily can help prepare you for the day ahead. Drawing one at night can focus your dreams and your subconscious.

Drawing a Tarot card for the day can be done two ways.

Shuffle the deck while asking what you need to know to get through the day. Then draw one card. At the end of the day, write down the card and how it related to your day in a journal. Keeping a record will draw attention to any reoccurring themes that might pop up.

A second way is to divide the deck into two piles, the major and minor Arcana. Shuffle both decks. Pull one card from each. The Major Arcana card will give you the underlying influences of the day. The Minor Arcana card will refer to the major event of the day and can contain a built-in strategy. If it is a court card, it refers to a person or an aspect of yourself which will be prominent.

The Journey 4:26 am

"How to Have a Balanced Life", from "Eluned Bridheon"s blog, on CovenSpace

1. Slow down. You are not responsible for doing it all yourself, right now.

2. Remember a happy, peaceful time in your past. Rest there. Each moment has richness that takes a lifetime to savor.

3. Set your own pace. When someone is pushing you, it’s OK to tell them they’re pushing.

4. Take nothing for granted: watch water flow, the corn grow, the leaves blow, your neighbor mow.

5. Taste your food. God/dess gives it to delight as well as to nourish.

6. Notice the sun and the moon as they rise and set. They are remarkable for their steady pattern of movement, not their speed.

7. Quit planning how you’re going to use what you know, learn, or possess. God/dess’s gifts just are; be grateful and their purpose will be clear.

8. When you talk with someone, don’t think about what you’ll say next. Thoughts will spring up naturally if you let them.

9. Talk and play with children. It will bring out the unhurried little person inside you.

10. Create a place in your home…at your work…in your heart…where you can go for quiet and recollection. You deserve it.

11. Allow yourself time to be lazy and unproductive. Rest isn’t luxury; it’s a necessity.

12. Listen to the wind blow. It carries a message of yesterday and tomorrow-and now. NOW counts.

13. Rest on your laurels. They bring comfort whatever their size, age, or condition.

14. Talk slower. Talk less. Don’t talk. Communication isn’t measured by words.

15. Give yourself permission to be late sometimes. Life is for living, not scheduling.

16. Listen to the song of a bird; the complete song. Music and nature are gifts, but only if you are willing to receive them.

17. Take time just to think. Action is good and necessary, but it’s fruitful only if we muse, ponder, and mull.

18. Make time for play-the things you like to do. Whatever your age, your inner child needs re-creation.

19. Watch and listen to the night sky. It speaks.

20. Listen to the words you speak, especially in prayer.

21. Learn to stand back and let others take their turn as leaders. There will always be new opportunities for you to step out in front again.

22. Divide big jobs into little jobs.

23. When you find yourself rushing and anxious, stop. Ask yourself "WHY?" you are rushing and anxious. The reasons may improve your self-understanding.

24. Take time to read books of inspiration from all belief systems. Thoughtful reading is enriching reading.

25. Direct your life with purposeful choices, not with speed and efficiency. The best musician is one who plays with statement and meaning, not the one who finishes first.

26. Take a day off alone; make a retreat. You can learn from monks and hermits without becoming one.

27. Pet a furry friend. You will give and get the gift of now.

28. Work with your hands. It frees the mind.

29. Take time to wonder. Without wonder, life is merely existence.

30. Sit in the dark. It will teach you to see and hear, taste and smell.

31. Once in a while, turn down the lights, the volume, the throttle, the invitations. Less really can be more.

32. Let go. Nothing is usually the hardest thing to do - but often it is the best.

33. Take a walk-but don’t go anywhere. If you walk just to get somewhere, you sacrifice the walking.

34. Count your friends. If you have one, you are lucky. If you have more, you are blessed. Bless them in return.

35. Count your blessings - one at a time and slowly.

The Journey 4:14 am

I came across this on "Ave"s CovenSpace blog today, and thought I’d fill it out since I love surveys so.  Perhaps I can update it in time ;)

1) What one thing is most important to your spirituality — without which your spirituality could not exist.

Contemplation. Without contemplation, I would be just another lost soul, "waiting for someone that can walk on water" (quote from SLC Punk! ;) ) Without contemplation, I wouldn’t have ever considered many things, such as yoga & meditation, and would probably be striving even more for balance in my own life.

2) What is the ultimate objective of practicing your spirituality?

To be unique, yet as one with everything that is around me. To find peace. To achieve balance. To appreciate all that is around, & not take it for granted. To live happy & free, & to love. To help someone see the summer sunshine on cloudy winter day.

3) What myth or story is most important to your spirituality?

I’m not one to particularly invest my concentration on myths & stories, beyond their moral or symbolism.

4) On what grounds would you change your spiritual beliefs or practices?

My path is ever-evolving. It changes with education & experience. My practices change to suit my needs.
