Book of MoonsMarch 2, 2007 12:21 pm

At the end of the day on Saturday, go outside and face east. As the sun sets behind your back, a red Moon will rise before your eyes–fantastic! Maximum eclipse is at 6:21 p.m. EST.

This is another idea I formed after watching a reality show where the father was moving his home business outside. He put up a fairly large, plastic, snap together shed in the yard. This, combined with an article I’d read about a woman who built her own little building for spiritual purposes, added to my enthusiasm. Make an outdoor shrine to spend time meditating & doing yoga in. I’m looking at WalMart sheds right now…I suppose a tent would be somewhat sufficient except in winter & windy weather.

This tent-like thing is 168$

"Take day long holidays, let the children play"

I had an pretty decent meditation today. I listened to "Riders on the Storm" again, this time with the cats locked out of the room. I did this thing where I focused on all of the sounds in the room and then focused on each one specifically (the ice melting/sleet outside, the hum & occasional drip of the fountain, the hum of Nick’s computer, and the song playing on mine), and then tried to push all of those thoughts out of my awareness. I kept getting images of different people in my head, though, and I have no clue who these people are or where I may have seen them. But I just went with it. First, my mind went blank & I could see a grey screen like on a tv. Then I saw a teenage boy as he was sitting down on a couch/chair, looking up at someone; the scenery kind of looked like my living room, looking at the view from the closest french door. Then I saw a woman with her dark hair flowing, a black transvestite, a carnie, a wizard, a cartoon wizard… Then, Ollie was trying to get in the room, so I could see him in the doorway with the door open & the light on in the kitchen. It looked like one of those tv memories, where the light was glowing & such. And then I saw Chloe in the same scenario. Then, 4 different things made noise (a paper fell, Nick’s computer made a noise, his phone vibrated, etc), and I lost my concentration & decided to stop. The song had just ended anyways. So, it lasted a good 7 minutes.

Before all this, I did my usual yoga. When I closed my eyes at the beginning of the session, I saw a cobra with its fangs exposed. Just like the picture provided, but real (hehe)…

The Journey 4:37 am

I’ve been interested in the idea of a commune for a few years now. Not that I’d want to / be able to live in one, as I’ve been & enjoy being spoiled by modern society LOL. But the idea of it is interesting. Since watching the movie "The Beach", I’ve been thinking about writing a short story about a commune, possibly one that practices paganism, or has a group of people livin there that parctice such. I began a topic in my "Hippie Witces" group on Coven Space, asking if anyone else was interested in communes, and one person provided us with a couple of sites, which I posted below. The second site shows an example of a "low-impact home", which looks pretty neat. The first is a website about a "woodland community", and shows pictures of their "benders" or "dwellings". This "bender" idea inspired me to think about perhaps buying a small piece of land in the (far) future to have for camping & gardening, and build my own bender. I don’t yet know what I would do about a floor, or about keeping the place standing during windy or snowy months, but I could look into that anytime. It looks as though they just bend a bunch of large, thick, sturdy (but flexible) tree branches to make a dome frame, and then lay some type of fabric over top. (Tarpaulin/tarp - often cloth such as canvas coated with plastic or latex)

Apparently, this community is in Devon, England. Reading the information on their website has me even more interested in the idea for an "escape" area :) I love it!!

And, well, I figured I’d just add some of the pictures on here - the first few are of the low impact wodland home, and then some of the community’s homes…
